Arrison’s
primary reason for calling for a bond issue for museum renovation is to keep the
taxpayers from reducing the 3 percent “hamburger tax.”
Citizens
are collecting signatures to have a vote at the November general election to
reduce the tax from 3 percent to 1 percent on restaurants and “prepared
food.” Arrison, and the city board,
are afraid to let the voters decide the proposed
initiative.
The
bond issue proposed by Arrison and the A&P commission, if approved by a vote
in the June 10th election, will end chances for a reduction in the
“hamburger tax” for a least the term of the bonds (ten years) or early
redemption.
The
Arrison scam must be defeated at the polls.
